Some camera’s have build in LED lights or psychical on/of switch to indicate whether they are turned on or turned off. But if this is not the case there might be no warning if it is turned on, or you might be too busy or too concentrate you miss the LED notification.

In windows 10 it is possible to receive a brief onscreen notification in the upper left portion of the screen to notify you of camera on/off activity.

So…. camera on:

In order to make this happen Microsoft implemented this feature strangely enough without a GUI setting. This setting is accessible only though the Windows Registry.

This is how you do it:
Start the registry editor from the Start Menu or simply hit Windows Key + R and enter “regedit”

Goto:  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\OEM\Device\Capture

Edit the NoPhysicalCameraLED DWORD

 0 = Disable
 1 = Enable

If this not works instantaneously reboot your computer.
That’s it
